In 2006, after years of working in finance and public accounting, I founded Greenleaf Accounting Services to help small business owners like you.
During my time in the banking industry, I saw a lot of scared and clueless business owners who didn’t understand their own books. I was heartbroken when I moved into public accounting and realized that many of the small business owners I worked with didn’t understand what we produced and certainly never used the information to improve their businesses.
That’s when I realized that what I really wanted to do was help small businesses. I felt I could become their very own “accounting department,” not just taking care of their books but also helping them understand what they mean.
And that’s exactly what my team and I do! We love working with small business owners, but we’re much more than that. Read on to find out more about us.
Deb Howard Greenleaf, EA, CEO & Principal
I’ve always been passionate about small businesses, even before I was a small business owner myself. After graduating from Bowdoin College with a degree in economics, I worked in a variety of accounting and finance positions before starting Greenleaf Accounting Services. Since then I’ve pursued a variety of certifications and coursework to improve my skills, including:
- Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor (2006)
- Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor (2007)
- Certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor (2012)
- Advanced Certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor (2016)
When I’m not helping small business owners, I’m volunteering with my local animal shelter and school booster clubs. I also lead a Great PA Cleanup team in our neighborhood, dragging unsuspecting volunteers through the ditches of Franklin Township in the name of environmental responsibility!
